What Is Bruxism?
Bruxism is involuntary teeth grinding or clenching, either during sleep or while awake. It affects 8–10% of the population and is strongly linked to stress and anxiety.
Warning Signs
- Morning jaw or headache
- Worn, flattened or shortened teeth
- Cracked enamel or broken fillings
- Facial muscle fatigue
Treatment Options
Custom night guards protect the teeth during sleep. Botox injections into the masseter muscle reduce grinding forces for 4–6 months. Worn teeth can be restored with composites, veneers or zirconia crowns.
